The 2019 Conference of the Oklahoma Chapter of ACFW is a unique opportunity to engage with like minded authors, both novice and experienced. This year’s conference will focus on how to educate and equip you on how to stand out as a writer. We’ll help you avoid amateurish mistakes with practical writing craft advice such as simple self-editing tips and tricks and creating a unique voice and writing style while also reminding and reinspiring you about why you picked up a pen in the first place. Morning Session: Write With Voice, Style, & Humor
This session shows writers how to find their own voice and style so they write in expressive ways, delight readers, and stand out from other writers. Participants learn how to bring a composition to life with humor, even if the subject is serious. Critical components of writing craft and trending nuances of the profession are revealed from show, don't tell, character development, scene descriptions, and numerous other writing principles. Prepare for a highly interactive session designed to accelerate learning and facilitate the mastering of methods and techniques that equip writers to achieve a higher level of professional authorship in a short time frame. Breakout Session 1:
The Editing Process: Revising Your Work for Publication
Do you know how to edit your own work? Do you know when it’s time to bring in a professional? In this workshop, I will discuss the differences among developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, and proofreading. We’ll dive into the self-editing process and discover tips and tricks for revising and editing your own work. We’ll also talk about how to ensure your work is ready for self-publication or submission to a traditional agent, editor, or publishing house. Whether you are writing fiction or nonfiction, editing is an essential step that should never be skipped. This workshop will help you discover techniques to polish your stories and present them in the best possible light to your readers. Presented by Staci Mauney.

Writing That Speaks To The Soul
Why did you decide to become a writer? In this workshop, we’ll examine our why to discover how writing can be a ministry as well as an act of worship. We’ll look at the building blocks of writing and learn how to incorporate the tenets of our Christian faith without being heavy-handed. Presented by Staci Mauney.

Find Joy And Purpose In Writing
This session encourages writers to take a fresh look at why they write and to develop a definition of success that taps into innate talents and is achievable. There is much more to writing than selling books, making money, and becoming famous. Presented by Nikki Hanna.

Nail The Structure-Beginnings, Endings, And In-Betweens
This session covers how to write compelling beginnings and endings and how to keep the middle of a composition from slumping. Structural alternatives, organizational methods, and invaluable writing processes are presented. Presented by Nikki Hanna.
